This one day workshop will introduce several approaches to making wood grains using different tools and techniques to create faux bois for film and other purposes. The class will examine many samples of real wood and faux bois. We will discuss vocabulary associated with creating faux bois in reference to the elements and principles of design.
The instructor will demonstrate different tools and processes with commonly used materials. Students will create several different wood grain samples of their own to keep. Careful documentation of processes and the use of non toxic materials will be emphasized. All tools and materials are included in the course fees.
